Brokopondo Peacock Bass (Cichla cf. ocellaris 'brokopondo') CareSheet
The Brokpondo Peacock Bass, one of the most strikingly marked, colorful, and sought-after of the Peacock Bass, is found solely in the waters around Suriname's Lake Brokopondo. Although officially classified as a subspecies of C. ocellaris, the Brokopondo variation is more than likely a separate species. They are enormous, strong, predatory fish, like other Cichla, and should only be maintained by experienced aquarists with sufficiently large tanks to accommodate these fish as adults.
